Scary Week and Confused Collie
Well let me tell you, it was a scary week around here.
First, The Woman got all sad and seemed all worried and I was trying to make her feel better but she just didn't get any less sadder. She spent most of a couple of days upstairs and I kinda figured it had to to with her late Mom's cat Bianca, who we actually call Binaca around here. Anyways, when The Woman's mom died, Binaca came to live here, and she pretty much stays upstairs ever since I came because she is old and doesn't really want to be bothered with a big ole Collie, no matter how perfect. This is ok with me and I give her her privacy all the time. I mean you gotta respect the elderly right?
But so anyways, I got a really bad feeling that Binaca was very sick and I caught the Woman saying to people how she wasn't eating at all and that she was afraid it was her kidneys from being old and she was going to have to send Binaca to the bridge. Things got pretty solemn here let me tell you and I was crying a lot in the night because even though I am just a dog, I am not stupid and I knew things were bad for poor Binaca. Mom was really really sad so I tried to be there for her when she wanted and to stay out of the way the rest of the time. I was a good dog, you can ask her, she kept saying Tosca you are such a good dog. I mean I wasn't getting any long walks and I was even looking a little gnarly, but I still was a good dog. I even kept the kitten busy, the little Snack. I don't care what names they come up with for that kitten, she will always be Little Snack to me!
Anyways, yesterday morning, the Woman got up REAL early and she let me out and I was good and didn't bark and she stayed upstairs and snuggled with Binaca. I kind of got the feeling that Binaca was going to be going to the bridge pretty soon. Then Mom came downstairs with Binaca in the carrier and gave me my breakfast. Then she left all teary-eyed. Well I couldn't eat because I was so sad. I mean this is family right?
Anyways, here's the story. Mom brought Binaca to the vet and instead of sending her to the bridge, the vet wanted to run a couple of tests and mom had to go back at 11 AM for The Verdict. So mom came home. But when she got home, she found that my brother Mojo's right eye was a slit and all runny. He had been injured. Mom knew I wouldn't ever hurt Mojo, if anything Mojo would make MY eye a slit, so she figured Mojo just got into a play situation with the Little Snack and now his eye was hurt. So Mom called the vet and asked if she could bring Mojo in when she went back at 11. There was only one problem. Mom had given away her second carrier to a poor person. She felt sorry for the lady who had a cat and couldn't afford a carrier so she gave her one. Mom was mumbling something about how no good deed ever goes unpunished.
So now, Mom had no carrier for Mojo. At least not one he could fit in. See, Mojo is the size of a three room apartment, if you get my drift. This is not a small cat. So anyways, Mom got out a little mesh bag she uses to carry kittens the size of Little Snack. Then Mojo thought Mom was playing, and being a good sport, he got in. He could lie down but that was about it. Then Mom zipped him and then she took HIM out of the house too! By this time, I am really whining because now two of my cats are gone! I mean Mojo is my best friend! I was biting my foot! I mean what was the woman doing, getting rid of us all or something????
But anyways, as I heard it told, poor Mojo must of thought she had gotten rid of Binaca and now it was his turn so he hyperventilated the whole time all the way to the vet. He was a mess. So there I was home with Roni and the Little Snack and we were all worried. Well not Little Snack. Little Snack just wanted to play and neither me or my cat Roni wanted to play, that's for sure. So we just sat there all worried while the clock ticked and we waited for our turn or something!!
Anyways, next thing I know Mom comes home with both Mojo AND Binaca! Boy was I glad to see them. She was very happy and the way she put it, Binaca's blood work was perfect. The old girl was going to see some more good days, but her back legs were bothering her which made her not want to eat. So the vet gave her some shots and she was moving a lot better and stuff and the vet said she would eat now and she did.
Mojo on the other paw, looked like a One-Eyed Tom Cat. He had definitely got hurt but he didn't have a patch over his eye like a pirate or anything. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! So he's getting drops in his eye and it's getting better already.
Anyways, when mom brought the two cats back home, she noticed I hadn't eaten a bite of my breakfast. I mean I was soooooooo worried, I couldn't eat. She got all teary-eyed and hugged me and said Oh Tosca, you are such a loving dog. You couldn't eat because you were worried, weren't you girl? Well Doh! Of course! Anyways, she cooed me and brought me to my dish and said Tosca You Can Eat Now, Everything Is Fine! So I gobbled up my food right there and then she gave me a nice raw meaty rib bone and I got to go outside for a couple of hours and play jungle dog and chase squirrels and things, and she even came out and played frisbee with me just like old times. Then when I came in, I noticed Mom was zonked out so I took a nap with her and stayed real close and watched her.
But so that's why you guys haven't heard from me till now. But everything is ok now and I did my Perfect Collie job right?Ok and here's a shot of Binaca this morning. She's 18 and says Hi and she's sorry she held up my blog for awhile. She promises to do better from now on.
Me? I'm gonna take advantage of the fact that the Woman feels guilty for not paying attention to me. I mean, I ain't no fool.
