I'm An Honorary Sheepdog!

Oh Dog! I'm biting my foot here!

PhotobucketI was just practicing counting sheep!

You are not going to believe it! There's this cool blogger over at Musings From Fairlight Farm who says she likes my Perfect Blog so I got to barking with her about how my life basically sucks because I have no sheep to herd even though I am a herding dog and that's what I am supposed to do. I was doing my regular whining about The Woman and how she won't even get me one lousy sheep, and next thing you know, the nice lady over at Fairlight Farm told me I could be an honorary sheepdog at her farm!

I mean is this cool or what? I mean how many of you are honorary sheepdogs? I mean I didn't dream this up! I won this honor fair and square I swear!

What happened was I told her that even though I am a herding dog, I never get to herd squat except cats and stupid squirrels and piles of leaves in the fall. I asked her if I could like maybe have a coupla sheep so that I could keep them here and herd them and stuff, but then The Woman intervened again. I mean I coulda had sheep folks! I'm a HERDING dog! Can somebody please explain this to her? I mean have you ever tried to herd cats? Do you have any idea what it is like to try to herd cats and have them ambush you and show you the Five Razors? It's just not possible. I mean I never get to herd things. Well there was that time at the BBQ when I herded everybody's kids and kept them in their circle. Everybody laughed but they liked it. I mean, they could scarf down chicken and potato salad and crap like that and not worry where there kids were! But beyond that, I am a herdless herding dog. How fair is that? I mean if the Woman wanted a dog that didn't herd things, why the fershtunk did she get a herding dog? I tell you, I can't get ahead in this place.

Well but so anyways, I didn't get any of the cool sheep, but like I said, the nice lady over at Fairlight Farm told me that I could be an Honorary Sheepdog. Stop by and see her and tell her how lucky she is to have me as an honorary sheepdog. I could use the references.

Well I got so excited about this special honor that I had a special badge made just for Perfect Me. Whatchu think!!!??? Do I look like a Perfect Sheepdog or what?

Have you been at the catnip or is living with all those cats driven you loopy. Tosca, you don’t look anything like a sheepdog. You are a perfect collie, you look nothing like those sheepdogs Tramp (My Three Sons) and Ladadog (Please Don’t Eat the Daisys).

Repeat after us, I am a collie. I am not a sheepdog. I am Tosca, the perfect collie.

Key West Cousins, the thing is, the lady at the sheep farm has a Collie for a sheepdog. You see, the history of Collies is about sheep. That's what we collies did in the real old days. Of course, now we don't get any sheep or respect!

Hooray for you, Tosca! If you had your very own sheep, you would be a champion sheepdog, so you deserve to be an honorary sheepdog. The lack of sheep should not deter you! Baaaaah!

congratulations. I can't believe your woman won't even get you one sheep.

No chance you can go out and get your own sheep? No? Ok then, if you have a responsible human, the HOORAY for the honourary sheepdog status.

Thank you for calling to our blog :) Nice to meet you.

How exciting. You going to be a sheepdog!! I love your picture in your badge. Mommies can be so mean sometimes. I was gonna give you your own squirrel for a prize but since I couldn't I kept it for myself and ever time I play with him I think about you. The Mommy said I couldn't herd a squirrel much less catch one...how rude!! We can still try, can't we? There is a picture of my squirrel on my post with the picture of my new brudder...he's not very big...the squirrel not the brudder.

Love ya lots & lots....Mona

I'd love to be a sheepdog too although I'm not bred to be one...But I think it'll be a LOT of fun to chase all those animals! Hey, great award.

That is a great badge. I am meant to be a livestock guardian so I am always nice to animals. Cats don't count. Neither do chickens. But I love goats and horses. We just don't have any so I know where you are coming from.

Jackson told me to warn you that sheep - even the little Shetland sheep that Tammy and I have - are not as easy to boss around as a wannabe sheepdog would like to think! He was butted again last night, and said it really scared him. The only way he could get out of the sheep fold (which he so foolishly entered without permission) was to hyperactively flash his needle fangs left and right while running for the gate - and screeching!

And yes, The Woman can collect and spin your fur straight, or mixed with some wool to make it a little easier to spin, but do you really WANT her to be dressed the same as you? Wouldn't that feel a bit, um, WEIRD to have her walking around in your fur? Let her grow her own!

I say if you want to be an honourary sheepdog then you should be!

Hi Tosca. Do you know I was almost a collie? Really, truly. Before my family got me, my mommy wanted a collie but daddy talked her out of it. So I'm a Boxer.

Hey, y'think if I write to that nice lady, she'd make me an honorary boar chaser? Jeez. Good jobs are hard to find these days.

But congratulations on your appointment.

Thanks for visiting my blog and being my friend. I'll visit you often because I love your bloggie.

I think every herding dog should have a herd of sheep.

I have never "herd" of anything more ridiculous than you not being allowed sheep.

Mind you I must say I am partial to a nice piece of roast lamb now and again....oooooops! Ok I am outta here!

love and licks to my Perfect Tosca!
